Whitsun belongs to the dark scene — and we are looking forward to you
Every year at Whitsun, Leipzig becomes the secret world capital of the dark arts. The Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2026 (WGT) runs from 22 to 25 May 2026 — and with around 20,000 guests from more than 50 countries, it is the largest festival of the goth, industrial and dark-wave scene worldwide. More than 200 concerts across 50+ venues, plus readings, film nights, the Pagan Village and the legendary Victorian Picnic in Clara-Zetkin-Park.
At LEIPZIG SUITES we genuinely look forward to our WGT guests. We have lovingly prepared our lobby on Gerichtsweg for the occasion: a black coffin as the centrepiece, candelabras, draped veils, velvet seating beneath a large-format stage photograph. No Halloween cliché — a place where the scene can feel at home.
WGT 2026 — key dates and venues
The festival officially runs from Friday, 22 May 2026 to Whit Monday, 25 May 2026. The main venues are spread across the city — and from our apartments on Gerichtsweg you can reach almost every one of them on foot or with a short tram ride.
The central venues at a glance
- —Agra-Halle and Agra-Park (Markkleeberg) — main stage with the largest international acts. Tram 9 from Goerdelerring.
- —Felsenkeller (Plagwitz) — industrial and EBM acts in a historic hall.
- —Kohlrabizirkus — one of the most spectacular venues, a former market hall in dome form.
- —Moritzbastei — directly at Augustusplatz, five minutes on foot from us. Readings, smaller concerts, legendary cellar atmosphere.
- —Täubchenthal (Plagwitz) — goth rock and dark wave.
- —Westbad — dark electro in an Art Nouveau bath.
- —Pagan Village at Torhaus Dölitz — medieval market, campfires, concerts.
- —Victorian Picnic in Clara-Zetkin-Park — on Whit Sunday, probably the most photographed event of the entire scene.
Why LEIPZIG SUITES is the perfect home for your WGT stay
While most Leipzig hotels are fully booked during WGT week and limit themselves to mere accommodation, we offer something different: serviced apartments in the heart of the city — with real privacy, fully equipped kitchen and space for wardrobe, vanity and costumes.
Location: five minutes from Augustusplatz, one tram to Agra
Our apartments are located on Gerichtsweg 12, in central Leipzig. You are five minutes on foot from Augustusplatz (Moritzbastei, Opera, Gewandhaus), ten minutes from the main station — and tram line 9 takes you to the Agra-Halle in under 20 minutes. Karli-Heine-Straße in Plagwitz with Felsenkeller and Täubchenthal is 25 minutes by tram.
Privacy instead of a hotel reception
We use 24/7 self check-in — no small talk at the front desk, no strict arrival window. You arrive when it suits you. If your concert at Moritzbastei ends at 3 a.m., your apartment remains your own quiet zone — no loud hotel corridors, no early breakfast guests on the floor.
Room for costumes, make-up and luggage
Our suites and apartments range from 35 to 75 m². Enough space for elaborate gowns, hoop skirts, boots, a second outfit for the next festival day and a vanity space where you can prepare in peace. For longer stays or families, we also offer larger suites and long-stay options.
A lobby that fits the scene
Our lobby has been prepared for WGT week — black draping, candelabras, dark velvet tones, velvet seating beneath a large-format stage photograph. A place to arrive between concerts, take a moment and meet fellow guests.
Practical tips for your WGT stay
Tickets, wristbands and public transport
The WGT wristband is valid during the festival as a ticket for the entire MDV public-transport network (bus, tram, S-Bahn) — so you do not need a separate ticket. Wristbands are picked up at Agra; expect waiting times on Friday.
Getting to Leipzig
By train you arrive directly at Leipzig Hauptbahnhof. By car, take the A14 or A38; a private underground car park is available on Gerichtsweg on request. Leipzig/Halle airport (LEJ) is 15 minutes by S-Bahn from the main station.
What you need on site
- —Cash — many smaller venues and stalls only accept it.
- —Water and a second comfortable pair of shoes — the corsets and platforms are stunning, but long.
- —Power bank for phone and camera.
- —A rain jacket that matches the outfit — Whitsun in Saxony is a weather gamble.
Restaurants and breakfast
Unlike a hotel, you have a fully equipped kitchen — perfect for a late, quiet breakfast without having to squeeze into your festival outfit again in the morning. For dining out, see our gastronomy guide for the best addresses within walking distance.
Last-minute availability for WGT 2026
With WGT starting in a few days, short-notice requests are highly contested. We are still holding a few apartments — booking goes directly via our website without booking-platform surcharges.
See our apartment overview for current availability or contact us through our contact form — we reply within a few hours.
We are looking forward to you. And to a WGT week that turns Leipzig back into what it is at its most beautiful at Whitsun: a stage for the dark scene from all over the world.
